365 Movies Day #53 "84 Charlie MoPic"
Yes, the trailer is in Spanish. It's the only one I could find that will embed. Here is another TRAILER/CLIP. I first heard about this film while talking to Glenn Morshower on the set of "Transformers". To date, Glenn had described this as his most moving and meaningful performance. I agree with him.
Glenn described the writer/director Patrick Sheane Duncan as a man who had lived these experiences, had known these men and refused to let a big studio or another director tell this story. His dedication to principal and giving us a beautiful film has left it difficult to get a hold of. My copy is a Japanese knock off and it was the only way I could even get a copy. Important to point out that the film is not a 100% representation of what actually happened, but the pieces are all assembled from somewhere (at least that is my understanding).
The film is told through the perspective of a military cameraman (MoPic) following around a military patrol. Things go horribly wrong and you are right in the thick of it. This film predates Blair Witch and it's offspring by more than a couple years and is a much better story. Glenn's part, in particular, is quite good. Firefly fans will also recognize OD (Richard Brooks) as stellar, disturbed hitman Jubal Early.
A must see for the military film guru and really everyone else.
